Course is Religion

During the renovation of KOERS. Museum of Cycling, the deconsecrated Paterskerk was decorated with a temporary exhibition, in which the fascinating relationship between racing and religion was depicted on the basis of two routes: 'The Way of the Cross' (the agony of cycling) and 'The Pilgrimage' (the procession of cycling chapels). The Croix de Fer, a metre-high 'iron cross' of welded bicycles, is regularly bathed in sunlight falling through the church windows. As if it were an impressionist work of art by Van Gogh. We had photographer Eddy Callewaert capture that atmosphere on a sun-drenched winter morning.
