Johan Museeuw triumphed three times in the Alembert cobblestone sections of the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. But he also crossed the finishing line first three times in the Brabantse Pijl (Brabant Arrow). Museeuw beat four-time winner Edwig Van Hooydonck at Alsemberg in 1996. He won again two years later, one day after winning the E3 Prijs. During the rain and hail-blighted event in the year 2000, Museeuw formed a leading group with Nico Mattan and Rolf Sörensen. As former teammates, Mattan and Museeuw still enjoyed a good relationship. When Museeuw attacked with three kilometres still to go, Mattan left the Dane do the pursuing. He managed to get within a few metres of Museeuw, but Johan refused to be outsmarted. He had a 9-second lead on his friend Mattan at the finishing line.
