Vocsnor vs the clock. How Campenaerts pulverises a world time record

16 April 2019. Victor Campenaerts appears on the Aguascalientes cycling track with one goal in mind: to break Bradley Wiggins' world time record. He was the first rider ever to break the magic barrier of 55 kilometres in one hour. The secret behind Vocsnor's success? Thorough preparation with a stay in Namibia and a new custom-made time trial bike by Ridley Bikes.

The design of his Ridley bike is not completely new. The Belgian manufacturer is building on the pursuit bike with which Victor competed at the Olympic Games in Rio. The intention is to make it lighter and more aerodynamic. The brakes and gears disappear and the frame is fully customised for Campenaerts.

The bike also has a lot of gadgets, such as sprockets made entirely of aluminium. This gem has 63 teeth at the front and 15 at the back. The tyres have also been taken in hand. The gold-coloured tubes were developed for the record attempt. The basis is a silk carcass, which ensures low resistance.

Total weight: 7.6 kg. The bike was also completely personalised to Campenaerts' wishes, who opted for the red and white colour. The time trial symbols and #vocsnor should provide additional - if any - motivation.
